Have you ever wondered if God could use you in His work? Has the thought ever crossed your mind, “I am not good enough to be used of God?” I have good news for you. God chooses to use people just like you and me to carry out his work. You are I are the perfect candidate to carry out God’s work on this earth.
I was born to Christian parents and was reared in a Christian home in the countryside of Alabama. My parents took me to church and taught me to love the Lord and serve others. There was never a question in our home of whether or not we would attend church on Sunday or Wednesday. I graduated from high school and married my high school sweetheart. My husband and I began serving at Beacon Baptist Church in 1981. Neither of us had the training for the job that was set before us. The Bus Ministry, Children’s Churches, Soul-winning Program, etc. We didn’t have the hands on training but we did have the desire to serve and please the Lord. The Lord had opened a door for us and we wanted to walk through that door and do our very best for the Lord doing His work. From 1981 until the present, the Lord continues to use us and help us as we serve Him. There is no reason except that we were and still are willing to be used of God. That is why we are in the ministry today. We were the “perfect candidate.”
The Bible tells us in the book of Esther that Esther was a slave girl with no parents, yet God used her to save His people from wicked Haman. Hannah was a barren, depressed housewife until God allowed her to birth Samuel. She then trained Samuel for life time ministry, just in case God called. And He did call! These two ladies were not born supernatural and gifted, they were just normal women with average problems, not capable on their own of doing anything for God.
God is looking for the perfect candidate:
- A woman with a yielded life, not a woman with self-confidence.
- A woman that will trust Him, not a woman that has all the answers.
- A woman with no excuses, not a woman that is perfect in all areas of life.
Interview questions for the perfect candidate:
1. Where were you born?
2. When were you saved?
3. Did you receive special training for God’s work?
4. Are you doing anything for the Lord at the present time?
God chooses the perfect candidate from unlikely candidates just like you and me, with absolutely no qualifications, so He alone receives the glory. I must walk by faith knowing that God can and will use me, the Perfect Candidate!
