The Most Wonderful Time PDF Print E-mail

Way back in September, I began to notice stores putting up Christmas decorations for sale. At the first sight of them, I began to grow excited about what would be coming up in a few months, this special time of year that is now upon us. The thought of Christmas brings about warm memories of laughing and enjoying time with family. It reminds me of the beautiful sights of the trees and the lights, the alluring smell of a fresh cut Christmas tree, and the joy I receive from giving gifts to others.

Christmas is not just a day; it’s an ideal. It’s the thought that we can all come together with peace, joy, and hope in our hearts. Your children may or may not remember that special toy that you give them, but they will definitely remember how special you made your own traditions and family time together. In the cool of winter, allow Christmas to be a warm place in your heart as you remember the joy of family but most importantly the gift of Jesus. As Christians, all of the previous statements are true about this holiday but more than that, Christmas becomes the most wonderful time of the year because we celebrate a “holy day,” the birth of the One who redeemed us from our sin.

Since Christmas is a celebration of His birth, keep this constantly in front of your kids by allowing them to give a special offering of their own in our annual Christmas Gifts for Christ offering at church. As the parent, give to Christ from the first fruits of your Christmas fund not from the leftovers. Remember, it is the most wonderful time because it provided us with the most wonderful One.
